Mastertronic Collectors Archive website celebrates its First Birthday!

Well, it’s hard to believe it, but today we’re celebrating the one year anniversary since we officially launched the Mastertronic Collectors Archives! Over the last twelve months our team has worked incredibly hard to bring you all a site packed full of content dedicated to one of the best publishers of budget software from the 80s and 90s.

The original concept for the website started when Anthony Guter – Mastertronic’s former Financial Controller and Systems Manager – contacted us. He’d been running an incredibly comprehensive site dedicated to the company providing a detailed insiders view of what went on, as well as a superb archive of press coverage. However, he was faced with the unfortunately dilemma of needing to close his site down and asked if we were interested in taking it over based on our experience running our Mastertronic Collectors Group on Facebook.

After lengthy discussions, not only did we talk about how to migrate his site, but we planned to expand it beyond his Mastertronic resource and evolve it into a site with reviews, articles, checklists and much more. In addition to this we intended to grow the site to cover the modern Mastertronic Group company allowing us to look at PC and console games as well.

In the last 12 months, we’ve published over 50 game reviews spanning 8 different platforms, added 12 checklists (some are still at a WIP stage) with many now featuring high resolution cover scans. We’ve also migrated over 120 pages of content from Anthony’s site and we’re expecting to have completed this over the next couple of weeks.

This is only the beginning for the site though. Over the next year we’re hoping to add more modern reviews and double our review output, add more articles, expand all our existing checklists and add coverage for even more formats by bringing in more writers to our team. But that’s not all – we’re also working towards bringing you our first interviews with some of the talent behind the games you all know and love!

Finally, we couldn’t have done this without all of you and your support, suggestions and encouragement. Please keep all the comments coming, and don’t forget to join our Facebook group, sign up to the free mailing list here on the site, and follow us on Twitter and BlueSky.

Here’s to the next 12 months and if you have any suggestions or thoughts about the site, let us know using our contact form!
