Amstrad Action had a major feature on Codemasters in the September 1988 issue. The first extract below mentions the early history of their involvement with Mastertronic and the second extract is a quote from the Oliver twins who were writing games for Codemasters. “Mastertronic have this 50 year old bloke who doesn’t give a sod” is a bit harsh; it was the success of Mastertronic that made it possible for the Darlings to set up on their own. I am undecided whether the ’50 year bloke’ was a reference to Frank Herman or to the games buyer at the time, Ron Harris.
