The MSX range of computers was incredibly popular in its home country of Japan although it did manage to gain a limited following in the UK and mainland Europe. A standard platform but one that could be released by a range of manufacturers was years ahead of anything else in the industry, but in the west the market was dominated by the likes of Commodore, Atari, Apple, Amstrad and Sinclair.
This didn’t stop Mastertronic from supporting the system though with a range of games, along with titles from both Melbourne House and Virgin Games although the majority were conversions from other systems. As the platform was based around the Z80 processor, most were straight ports from the ZX Spectrum with very little in the way of enhancements.
We’ll update this over time adding more systems, titles and credits and additional details for as many of these as we can identify.

Notes
- Where there are gaps in the numbering, this will be because the numbers are allocated to games on other formats. In other instances, there times where no game seems to be on record. This seems to be a common issue across most Mastertronic ranges and we assume that this is where games were planned for release but were cancelled.
- The MSX version of 180 appears in the regular Mastertronic range rather than the MADC range. It uses MAD branding as this was intended to promote the company’s higher profile titles.
