Press Coverage – Home Computing Weekly, 17th July 1984

Home Computing Weekly, 17 July 1984, effectively corrected (but did not refer to) the story it had published on 22 May saying that ACE was tieing up with the Darling brothers. The partnership between Mastertronic and the Darlings had already yielded a significant number of titles. AI Products never traded as described below – it was a shell used to distribute royalties and had no business purpose at all. Nothing was ever published under its name and when the Darlings set up Codemasters and ceased to write for Mastertronic, AI Products vanished.

Martin Alper’s quote about “Games will be in the minority” is somewhat eyebrow-raising. Or to put it another way, bullshit.

Editors note: AI Products was credited on the rear of the packaging for the Vic 20 version of Games Creator which was the re-release of the same package previously released by the Darling brothers through their Galactic Software label.
