American magazine InfoWorld, November 1984, reports on Mastertronic’s first attempt to crack the US market, in partnership with Classic Family Entertainment. The joint venture did not last more than about 6 months, when the business became managed from the production facility in Frederick, Maryland.
The assertion that Mastertronic “has already captured more than 40 percent of the computer game market in England” was a bit of classic PR bullshit.
I suppose Trip Hawkins, who thought it would never take off, could say he was right – in the long term.
