Even though many of their early games were clones of arcade hits, Mastertronic is one of only a few games publishers with a genuine connection to the arcades beyond licensing games for conversions. So we felt that it was time to dedicate our latest themed week to some of the games that Mastertronic brought to the home, especially as the latest annual PlayExpo event being held in Blackpool this weekend (3rd – 4th October) celebrating all things gaming, with their own dedicated arcade games area!
This week we’ll have a mix of game reviews across a selection of formats and as always, this Thursday’s video on our YouTube channel will be dedicated to one of those conversions as well so pop on over there at 8:00 pm GMT to see which one it is! New reviews will be going live at 6:00 pm GMT on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week so keep checking back to see what we’re covering!
Regular visitors will know that we’ve covered plenty of arcade conversions in the past too, but if you’ve missed any of them here’s what we’ve already looked at:
- Continental Circus – Amiga
- Gaplus – Commodore 64
- Motos – ZX Spectrum
- Rockford: The Arcade Game – Commodore 64
- Sidewinder – Amiga, Atari ST, PC
- Silkworm – Amiga, Atari ST
- T2: The Arcade Game – Amiga
- World Darts – Amiga
World Darts was originally released on 8-bit systems as 180, the converted to the Amiga for use on Mastertronic’s Arcadia arcade machine before being released as a home title.
